This is a website by a family passionate about cakes! We don’t sell them: we just make them for people and events we care about on special occasions. Making and sharing food is at the heart of every community and family. Every year, my two daughters, Anna and Stella, give me a brief about what they want for their birthday cake – the discussions can begin many, many months before their birthday, which starts building the excitement early on. The cakes have grown in complexity, and often size, as the briefs from the girls have become more complicated and my technical abilities have improved. We do slightly take things to the extreme, but love doing so!

Having been sent away to boarding school from the age of seven, my birthday was always during the summer term and I was never at home. Fortunately, a family friend was a great cake-maker – Pat Potts. Every birthday, a member of staff would present me with her annual creation (chocolate was always my request) and these were magical experiences. So, cake has always held special significance for me with birthdays.

DADDY / CHIEF CAKE MAKER
When I was 18 I became a trainee chef at the Carved Angel restaurant in Dartmouth, South Devon. This was a magical experience that gave some professionalism (and speed) to my enthusiasm for food and cooking...

Whilst the final cakes on this website (and the thousands of cake images you can find on the Internet) can look quite daunting, I have a few tips that I have learnt over the years that may be helpful...
I always love deciding what I want for my cake, one year I was debating between an exploding cake and a tea party cake with the queen. No matter which one I chose my daddy could do both! Even though he would have to buy bombs on Amazon and they would think he was mad. Can't wait to see what I decide about this year!
My dads cakes are cool, weird and funky although I don't like eating cake my friends say they taste awesome.
Whenever my daddy makes a cake, the one thing I look forward to more than eating it is the revealing of it. The lights would go out but that is if we were indoors, and everyone would start singing happy birthday. Finally, the cake would appear, always looking different every time, but of course it would look better than before every year. Can't wait to see what it will look like this year!
